George Clooney - He Gets It
It's the first full week of Savvy Style, and today we debut our "They Get It" category - devoted to those (both famous and not) who never fail to look great - and appropriate!
Savvy Style's first pick isn't particularly "original," since this gentleman is universally applauded for his style (in fact, he was the inspiration when we wrote the description for our Natural Horn Cuff Links.) But he has set the bar very high, and we like that.
Yes, it's Mr. George Clooney - who TIME magazine calls "The Last Movie Star."
But here's why we chose George - he's way beyond just a good looking man who knows how to wear a tux. He understands the power of attire. He understands the power of dressing for the occasion. He understands the
power of dressing, dare we say it, "like an adult."
But George also understands something which so many people these days seem totally clueless about: how you dress shows respect (or lack thereof) for the people around you - the event you're attending - the cause you're promoting and supporting. Your attire reflects whether you have regard for others and the situation at hand. Whether you get it.
Several years ago we heard Mr. Clooney in an interview talking about a new Las Vegas casino/resort project he and partners were involved in. He remarked that he wanted it to be like the casinos "back in the day" (our words) when his Aunt Rosemary was singing in Vegas. And then he talked about how different it was then: people dressed up - it was glamorous. And he added that the casino would have a dress code! We nearly swooned with delight.
Yes, George definitely gets it - and we're all the better for it!
