Skyscraper Heels

One of my fondest memories from childhood is clomping around in my mom's high heels.  She didn't like me doing it a bit; so when we visited my grandparents and my Aunt Nancy (in college at the time) let my wear hers - well, I was in heaven!  And Aunt Nancy was easily my favorite of all the aunties.

I still love high heels.  And back in the day, I think I probably wore them about 24/7.   I  don't do that anymore; but I have retained my love affair with high heels.

But now, enough is enough!  What's making me crazy this Monday?  The ever increasing heights of heels.  It has to stop!  We're going to start reading story after story about women tumbling off their shoes and breaking their necks!  In fact, there already have been stories about models falling on the runway.  And of course, there's the famous Sex and the City scene when Carries falls on the catwalk.

And I have nothing against platforms - I have a ridiculously small foot and I need the platform if I'm to have any hope of comfortably wearing a heel of even 3 inches - which is NOTHING these days.  Anymore, we're talking about heels that have gone from what I thought was nutty (4 inches) to 6, 7, even 8 inches!  It's breathtaking - and breathtakingly stupid!

Along with my small foot, I'm on the short side (space efficient is my preferred term) and while I'd love to measure in at around 5'6" in my stocking feet; I have to put on a 4" heel just to get there!  And as George Costanza would say, "I'm not going any higher, baby!"

Check these pairs out.  Yes, I do think they're gorgeous, but COME ON!  (And they're not even the tallest I've seen.)

Do you love high heels too?  Do you think the taller the better?  Tell me your story!  And if you own some totally over the top heels, send pics (along with advice on how to walk in them!)

And BTW: if you're looking at the photos and thinking, "I really want those shoes," well, they're by Versace.  Go forth and buy - just don't break your neck!

I've run into a bunch of junk today. It's not always easy to find good sites with a good lay out and relivaint content. But your site nails it... I just wanted to say good job and keep it going.
