Let The Sun Shine! Dazzling Conservatories

In yesterday's Home Decor Thoughts segment, I posted a photo of a beautiful sun room - a room that had caught my eye many years ago.

So for today's segment on Favorite Style Sources, I'm continuing the theme of sunlight in the home.  As far as I'm concerned, sunlight is one of the best "accessories" a home can have.  After all, you can live in a tiny, cramped space; but if you have sunlight streaming in, that light will make all the difference in the world.  And on the flip side, if your house is grand and spacious, but has lousy lighting and too small windows - the effect of being in a dark, dreary space is just utterly depressing.

So let's go straight to the most fabulous source for bringing sunlight into a home: the conservatory.  Traditionally, a conservatory was a glass and metal structure that was placed in the gardens of very posh houses.  Today, conservatories are typically added onto the house itself: whether by converting an old porch, or building a new structure altogether.

I am in love with conservatories.  Not only are they incredibly beautiful structures in their own right; but they bring a very unique, and refined ambience - not to mention all of the dazzling light.

Check out these beauties:
