Sting: Great Music - Great Clothes
For the first They Get It segment of 2009, I've chosen one of my favorite musicians - the incomparable Sting.
I became a fan way back in the days of The Police. And even then, I was struck by the fact that this guy didn't look like the other rockers. First there was his body: he wasn't the typical (back then) skinny dude with an adolescent looking physique. No, he was toned and buff - he actually looked healthy!
But beyond the body, there was a certain air about him that was quite unusual for his "rocker status." He always seemed more sophisticated, polished, more worldly.
And beyond that he was just plain cool. He inevitably looked supremely confident, and pulled together. And that's where the clothes come in. If you've ever seen him in concert you know that, yes, there are the tight fitting t-shirts and leather. But there are also the suits, handsome shirts and turtlenecks.
And beyond the stage, he's just as likely to be seen in luxe tailored suits, as in elegant casual trousers and jackets. Even his t-shirts look good! And now at 57, he has a sophisticated style befitting his age, but still with a rocker's edge. Oh yeah, he definitely gets it.

(Remember Magnum and his shades hanging around his neck? Well, Sting makes wearing glasses on a cord cool!)

This man looks just as comfortable, and good, in a tux as he does in world-famous rock star mode. And who doesn't love a man in a tux?
