Eco Living Never Looked So Good
For this Thursday's Style Source Faves, we're looking at the green movement, particularly as it applies to homes. And for the style
sources we have a book, plus a couple of videos.
First, the book: Urban Eco Chic: How to Create an Eco-Friendly Home Without Comprising Style, by Oliver Heath. Mr. Heath's thesis is that sustainability and style can work together; and he gives resources and room-by-room guides for applying eco-chic principles to the home.
The videos: the first video is by Living Homes and presented by the company founder, Steve Glenn, and the architect, Ray Kappe. Mr. Glenn presents the Living Homes show house, the first to be LEED Platinum certified in this country.
It's a good looking house. And some of the information is astonishing: for example, the installation of the house took 2 1/2 days. WOW! And to think my own little house addition took almost a year! And some of the unusual and fascinating materials that are used throughout the house are highlighted.
