Michael Kors 2009 Spring Summer Show
It's a beautiful morning here in northern Virginia: blue skies, lots of sunshine - the kind of morning that just makes you smile and feel happy.
And happy is how I feel when I'm looking at Michael Kors' designs. Whether it's the shoes, the sportswear, the gowns - they just bring a smile to my face. To me, his collections are expressions of joy, of all American optimism - with a large dose of glamour thrown in for good measure.
And the designer himself? Who doesn't love watcing Michael Kors on Project Runway? He's concise and articulate with his criticisms and praise (so the lay people - me - understand his points) and with his razor sharp wit, he's great entertainment.
So, here on a What's New Monday, a video of the Spring Summer 2009 Runway Show. Michael describes it as Triple A: American - Athletic - Architectural. And note what he says about the best of American clothes: "... it's noticing the person first... it's not fashion for art's sake... it's all about the person." No doubt, why I like his clothes so much - that, and the fact that they make me feel happy!
