Be Still My Heart: An Oregon Home to Die For

Today for our Home Decor Thoughts segment, I've pulled photos of a house in the beautiful state of Oregon.

I loved this house the moment I Iaid eyes on it; but I must let you in on a little secret: that was nine years ago.  That's right - these photos were first published almost a decade ago.  And the thing is - I love each room now, just as much as I did then.

Owned (at least when the story was published) by an interior designer, the house is a study in beautiful collections - architectural remnants, obelisks and garden ornaments - and classic design.  Looking at the rooms today, they appear just as fresh and inviting as they did originally.

The living room:

The sun room (note the floor: we have another gorgeous stenciled floor):

And the fabulous trio of planters sitting on the "window sill" (it's actually a radiator cover) were placed there very deliberately to "buffer the view" but not block out the light.

One of my favorite quotes from the owner regarding his style of decorating: "I always try to combine the fine with the rough, the expensive with the inexpensive, the jewels with the junk.  It's all in the mix."

Well, looking at the house, I'd say he got his "mix "just right.
