Egads! Swimsuit Season is Upon Us
OK, let's be honest: terror strikes most women at the mere thought of having to go shopping for a swimsuit. Even the most confident - and toned - among us, are often reduced to - "I'd rather have my teeth drilled."
And frankly, I put a lot of the blame on the stores that sell the suits. Oh sure, there are all the arguments about how our culture puts
extreme pressure on women to look perfect, and how the media plays a HUGE hand in it (see Photoshop post.)
But let's get back to the stores: what's with the atrocious lighting? I mean really now, women have been complaining about it for years - and still they do nothing about it?
I've been shopping with friends - women with figures that could be featured in a Sports Illustrated photo shoot - and even they looked fair to middling in the dressing room. Do these companies want to sell suits? Or do they want women to walk out, completely disgusted, and go shop online? ("Of course, I'm all for the shopping online part!" the boutique owner said with a wink.
)
So for today's Style Source Fave, I'm recommending a website. It's just fun - and has some good, practical information about selecting a suit for your body type: check it out here at Fitness Magazine.
Fair warning: the pop-ups are truly annoying - but once you get past them, you'll find five women - five different body types - modeling swimsuits. They've taken two photos of each woman: the before and after. But beyond just showing you the "wrong" suit vs. the more flattering one, they tell you why the before doesn't work on the model, and why the after is a better choice.
And with the photos right there in front of you, you can decide for yourself what you think. And you can determine if any of the body types approximate your own, and then go shopping. Online - in the privacy of your own home, of course!
And check out our sheer, beautiful Alexa wraps. Handwoven of wool and silk, these are the perfect travel wraps as they do triple duty: as a shawl, a scarf, or a pareo to cover you swimsuit!

Hi,
Well, your body's here, but the mind is still on Weekend Time. It's nice outside. It's after Memorial Day. Heck, it's summer. That means it's time to get out of the stuffy office and... oh crap, that means it's swimsuit time and you're not prepared!!!
