"Life Happens" - Everyone Needs a Refuge
I got some bad news yesterday. Not the earth shattering "life will never be the same again" kind - but the sad "sh** happens and there's not a thing you can do about it but press on" kind.
But when I heard the news, I left my office. I needed a change of pace - a change of scenery.
Where did I go? It was pouring rain, so lounging in the garden and catching a few rays was out of the question. Instead I went home, poured myself a glass of wine and sat in my sun room. There was no pretty sun filtering in through the shades, but it was peaceful and serene. Quiet - perfect for reflection.
Today is our Home Decor Thoughts segment; and again I'm reminded of how important it is to have a space that soothes you. It's not about having the most beautiful room(s) - or the grandest space - it's about surroundings that you feel good in.
My house is not my "perfect house," yet I can find peace and tranquility there. And that's what it's all about - shelter. Shelter from the storms - and often those storms are the storms of life.
So, if your abode doesn't provide you with peace - with serenity - what are you waiting for?
It doesn't have to cost a gazillion dollars to get your own oasis. Sometimes it's simply a matter of clearing out clutter, or getting rid of things you've never really liked to begin with. Too much stuff is exhausting; and a cluttered room gives no peace.
Never underestimate the power of the setting.
Life turns on a dime. What are you waiting for?
