Drop Dead Elegance & Style

It's Monday, when we have our What's New or This Makes Me Crazy segments; and today, it's a bit of both.

I have a video to share: a beautiful, inspirational video - fashion photography from the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

I'm putting it in the What's New category because I am a cockeyed optimist (to quote Nellie Forbush.)  I will never cease hoping for a season of total looks that are as gorgeous and sophisticated as the ones in the video.

And I'm also including the video in the This Makes Me Crazy category because its photos are in stark contrast to the fashion photography usually seen today.  And today's fashion photography does make me crazy.

You see, when I flip through Vogue (or any of the other mags) I want to see the clothes!  Not some child with bizarre hair flying everywhere, not all kinds of objects - including the model herself - obscuring the clothes.  It's the clothes I want to see.

Yeah, I get that they're shooting a story - a tableau - but let me repeat: I want to see the clothes.  I want to see how the trousers drape, where the hemline hits, how the sleeves hang.  I want a good look at the clothes and accessories.  I don't really give a rip about the vision for the shoot.

This video is filled with beautiful women (not children.)  Beautiful women wearing stunning clothes and accessories.  It's a joy to behold!
