Think Your Home's Not Big Enough? Sometimes, the Best Things Come in Small Sizes

Here we are, mid-week, time for our Wednesday Home Decor Thoughts segment.  And today, I have a video for you.

I don't know how I missed this when it first came out - but, I did.  The video is a couple of years old, and it was made by interior designer, Ron Marvin, who entered his own apartment in HGTV's Apartment Therapy's Smallest Coolest Apartment 2007.

I love this apartment!  I'm always fascinated by how some people can take a small space and transform it into a virtual palace.  I know that  when my own house was undergoing renovations, I was debating with the architect about whether certain rooms would be big enough.  The architect just laughed.  He explained that he grew up in London (in a small flat) where you learn how to make do with less square footage.  And he added with a chuckle and wink, "Oh, you Americans, you think everything has to be big."

Ha!  He's got a point.  But this apartment - it's something else.  This space is gorgeous; and as befits the contest it was entered in, it's very cool - and  loaded with style.

Ron has taken rich colors, classic patterns, and mixed them with very fun accessories.  And he talks about how he finds treasures in flea markets, second hand shops, and even off the street.  Then he points out some of his amazing finds.

So, if anyone is thinking, "Oh, I just need more space; I can't do anything with this small area," you'll be dazzled by what this very clever interior designer has accomplished.
